RYAN POLLARD
Ryan Pollard (SHS Class of 2013). Premier Multi-Sport Athlete, Academic Standout,
Community Advocate. Ryan is a standout SHS graduate who has left an enduring legacy.
Throughout high school, he excelled in basketball (unanimous First Team All-League),
baseball (First Team All-League) and soccer (Second Team All-League), earning eight
Varsity Letters and numerous awards, including 2013 Athlete of the Year. As a senior, Ryan
excelled on the basketball court and was selected for the OSAA 4A All-State Basketball
Series. Ryan also was a defensive gem on the baseball diamond, committing only one error
in three years playing centerfield. Beyond sports, Ryan was named Homecoming King and
showcased his strategic thinking by securing first place in the Oregon Regional Chess
Championships two years in a row. He continued to shine on the basketball court at
Western Oregon University, contributing to a championship-winning club team while
earning a Community Health Education degree. Ryan’s commitment to community service
continued with serving in Young Life, working with at-risk and homeless teens, and
volunteering on the prayer team for Salem Free Clinics. Today, Ryan serves as the Homeless
Community & Outreach Coordinator for Polk County, making a significant impact by
helping the homeless access vital resources, get out of addiction, and secure housing. Ryan's
story is one of athletic success, academic achievement, and dedicated community service by
advocating for those people experiencing homelessness.
